Note: Spoilers for Episode 3 of Campaign 4 follow below.
The Combat-Oriented Party Unveiled
The latest chapter finished on a major cliffhanger and presented the premier party of heroes who will split off from the central cast to begin their own adventure, distinct from the other two tables.
The Soldiers table features Teor Pridesire (portrayed by the voice actor), Thimble (the talented performer), the fierce warrior (Whitney), Wicander Halovar (Sam), and Kattigan Vale (the actor).
Dividing the Cast
With a large ensemble, it was evident from the outset that keeping everyone at one table would be unfeasible.
Hence, the opening chapters of this story serve as an Introduction, weaving together the personal journeys before branching into three distinct groups: Fighters, Strategists, and Explorers.
The Nature of the Combat Party
Per the Dungeon Master, the warrior group is for participants who are drawn to a traditionally charged combat and conflict-driven story mode where peaceful solutions are rare.
Initially, characters like the hesitant healer Wicander Halovar might seem mismatched, but the developments of the third episode show why these particular heroes are ideally matched for the warrior group.
Motivations for Departure
To begin with, the group has a clear idea where to proceed after a brutal initial meeting with the enemy group.
An old friend of the deceased character—whose passing initiated the campaign’s events—used The Crow Keepers for his personal gain, invading the hidden lair, assaulting Thimble, and swiping all the powerful objects to dispose of.
The antagonist then settled his obligations and ran away to a secure base in the northern region, north of Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother close behind.
Personal Motivations
Additionally, each character has a individual motive to leave the city Dol-Makjar:
- Thimble, as the companion and best friend, desires vengeance.
- Kattigan is familiar with Timmony and advises that it is a hostile place.
- The strong character and The cleric, having defied his house’s orders to kill Teor and instead saved him, have no safe haven.
- But, their reputation as prominent individuals in the influential clan could enable the party enter areas they usually can’t.
- Furthermore, The grateful character swore a life debt to The cleric for his deliverance and will now follow him anywhere.
Fugitives
Lastly, all of them are sought by the authorities that control the city for a range of causes, making staying in the city dangerous:
- The agile adventurer and The character are notorious outlaws.
- The strong figure and Wicander defied the powerful family and the horde of evil beings they are partnered with.
- Teor is wanted dead by the family.
This leaves them few options but to journey toward the remote area in search of the traitor.
What’s Next?
Based on the recent installment’s post-show segment, we learn that the Soldiers table won’t be around next week, leaving the other eight players to assemble the Seekers and Planners groups.
Fans can look forward to finding out which adventurers will be in which group in Campaign 4’s concluding setup installment, available to watch on the upcoming Thursday.
