Norris Leads Oscar Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice Session
The British driver has outscored Oscar Piastri at each of the last five race weekends.
Lando Norris just pipped team-mate and championship contender the Australian for the fastest time in the dying seconds of practice at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
Norris, who grabbed the title advantage from Piastri by just one point after taking the win in the Mexican Grand Prix recently, outpaced the Melbourne-born driver by 0.023 seconds.
Until that point, Oscar Piastri had been the fastest McLaren driver during the running before the sprint shootout scheduled for the evening session.
Max Verstappen, the other racer in the points battle, lying 36 points behind behind Norris, ended up in 17th position as his team followed a alternative strategy.
His teammate Yuki Tsunoda was the only driver to crash, though minor, when he rotated at corner four during the early running.
Tsunoda lost control over the curbs on exit before sliding over the escape zone, and was blessed to escape with just a minor contact of the barrier.
Ferrari's the seven-time champion also lost it, at the very end of the practice, turning around through the high-speed Mergulho corner approaching the final bend on to the pit straight.
The veteran wrapped up in P19, one place behind team-mate the Monegasque driver.
Norris and Piastri were far ahead of the rest of the field, with Nico Hulkenberg's Sauber third fastest, 0.619secs behind Piastri's pace.
The Aston Martin of Fernando Alonso was fourth quickest, with the Sauber of Bortoleto ahead of Mercedes' George Russell and the Alpine of Pierre Gasly and the Williams of Carlos Sainz.
